We are seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to help us identify and implement improvements to our infrastructure and the development practices needed to ensure Pitchup can release, run and scale software in a reliable manner. We’ve recently completed a migration to Kubernetes in Google Cloud from bare metal. Now we’d like to make more use of modern managed services like Cloud Tasks, Memorystore and more - all while pushing towards continuous delivery and best-in-class release pipelines. 

About the role 

  • Collaborate with the wider Engineering community to enhance their ability to deliver via modern, fast, effective deployment pipelines
  • Proactively control cloud costs 
  • Provide coaching, instructions and tooling to help teams deploy to production faster
  • Ensure operational best-practices for logging, security, backups, monitoring and other aspects of our estate are implemented to enhance site reliability
  • Help us to build a pragmatic, effective DevOps culture across our teams

What your first few months will look like:

  • We would like you to understand the existing cloud estate and deployment tooling
  • Make meaningful improvements to the cloud estate in terms of reliability, cost or deployment efficiency
  • Ideally have produced and agreed some plans for future cloud improvements alongside ongoing maintenance

About you

  • You will currently be a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with at least 3 - 5+ years of experience within a scaling business.
  • Essential that you have Kubernetes experience and would be advantageous if you have previous experience with GCP. 
  • Experience with all aspects of modern cloud infrastructure including networking, storage, managed services and access control.
  • A strong understanding of security fundamentals.
  • Experience of configuration management and infrastructure automation, preferably using Terraform.
  • Expertise using modern CI/CD tools such as Gitlab, GitHub Actions, CircleCI or similar.
  • Team player, self-motivated, able to plan and prioritise effectively.
  • Experience of working as part of an Agile development team.
  • Degree in a related discipline.

Salary: £85,000 to £95,000 per annum depending on experience
